Paris, la belle

 I've been to Paris with my french class from the 14th to 18th of November and it was awesome.

I was really excited to go back to that city I love, but I was also nervous because I knew my classmates only since a couple of months, I was afraid not to get along with them. But finally, I had a lot of time to talk and spend time with all of them, they turned out to be fantastic people and I had so much fun with them!

The trip was great, we had a lot of free time to walk around and go out together.

And I have to say that I was infinitely happy to get to speak french for a couple of days, even if it turned out I spoke more danish than anything else. Still really happy!

The next segment is dedicated to Palais de Versailles, because I adore this place, especially after seing 'Marie-Antoinette' (the film), I tried to take artsy pictures, not sure if it's a success but here it is.

45. Danish fashion: shoes edition

Oh wow I can't believe I almost forgot to talk about shoes!!!

That was actually one of the first thing that really shocked me here.

Most of them wear sport shoes, like running shoes. I remember, if you were wearing sport shoes at school in Québec, that wasn't considered really 'cool', especially not with a dress.
But here in Denmark, it is totally normal.

But I have to say that they have some really nice (especially Nike) shoes.

Otherwise, girls wear black shoes or boots.

I personally still can't adopt the sport shoes, although I think it looks pretty nice.

46. Learning danish

The language have definitely being the biggest cultural choc I had arriving to Denmark.
Danish is so different from french and english!

I can say that I am really proud of myself for learning that weird language in less than a year. I will really miss to speak it all the time and keep ameliorating it, because I am far from being perfect at it, I still constantly learn!

I think danish is really difficult to learn mostly for its lack of grammar rules. Also because you never say a word the same way you write it, that's pretty confusing.

Though I probably won't miss people to ask me to say Rød grød med fløde...

But I do think that the danish language is beautiful, even though it sounds like they talk with a warm potato in their mouth.

47. Black is the new black

Faaashion!!! Fashion, fashion fashion fashion!!

Danes are so frigging fashionable, you wouldn't even believe it. Living here feels like living in a Tumblr cool kids world, not even kidding. And the main colors are light black, medium black, dark black, white and gray, and black. And most of the time, when they wear colors, they completely go for it in wear neon! Don't get me wrong, I love their fashion, I'm just jealous of how easy it seam for them to dress like they're on a catwalk.

Last week was released in Denmark the Alexander Wang collection for H&M and the day it started, H&M website was over busy and some clothes were sold aout after only a couple of hours. But I have to say that this collection is totally Danishlike.
Otherwise, I saw many many people wearing designer clothes to school. Comme Des Garçons is one of the most popular.
I think that the appearance is really important here, both girls and boys are really fashionable and do take it really seriously.

They all look super chic and sporty and always flawless. Ugh. Don't mind me, I'm just jealous.

 I asked Danes a couple of times why they always dress like they're going to funerals, they told me it's the winter depression, because there is not a lot of light everyday and it's depressive so they wear black. But I don't know for the summer...

48. Lakrids

Lakrids or black licorice is THE candy here, and even if most exchange students would say that it's the most horrible thing on earth, I like it pretty much.

They really have everything with lakrids flavor, sweet or salted, it's all soooo good!

Please, don't be mad at me if I make you taste salty lakrids when I come back. Your respond to the taste might makes me laugh really loud and for an amount of time that gets a little awkward.

49. Party like a Dane

There's not much to say, but I will miss the party life in Denmark.

At first it was weird, it is still weird, I love it.

Pre-pre-partys, Pre-partys, Partys and After-partys.. You will be missed!

The alcohol/party culture here is insane, I heard that there are no legal age to start drinking, plus you can buy beer when you're 16 y/o. 

Don't ask me why Denmark is the happiest country in the world, your answer is right here^.

During this year, I experienced two different time when you can actually drink at school and that your teachers are selling you alcohol. 

First, there are Fredagscafe once a month with a different theme every time. This one is just a chill 2pm to 4pm right after class with your friends and classmates. 

Then there are Gymnasium fests, that are only four times a year, also with a different theme every time. To those partys, we kinda expect you to be dressed or costumed on the chosen theme, it starts at 8pm and finish at 12pm. There is a DJ and sometimes a band to play music, those partys are really funny and there is usually a pre-party with your class and an after-party in town.

Otherwise, music festival are pretty something as well. Not necessarily for the music, but for the time you pass on the camp site with all the young people playing øl bowling everywhere.

And birthday party. Every kind of party, because this is where it is the easiest to interact with danes, they are not shy neither closed anymore, they become your best friend for a night and it's really great. And i realized that danes are pretty awesome.

Fun fact, danish beer is one of the cheapest thing I found here (I mean, Denmark cheap.. cheap for Denmark.. well)
